Seventeen-year-old Paula lives on a farm with her mother, Heike. Her father, Rafael, has been in a coma for five months. Paula doesn’t talk about his condition, but convinces herself that everything can go back to normal and that her dad will come back, as long as his farm is doing well. When Heike tells her daughter that they have to sell the farm, Paula fights to keep it, in the hope of saving her father. But whilst Paula is coping with the farm work, Rafael’s health deteriorates. In response, Paula shuts out everything except her work and also distances herself from her mother, who is grappling with the critical situation.
